Dev Diary 1

By

Initially, I was planning for a Jan 2022 release of Train Throttle for iOS. That, obviously, hasn't happened. It seems like every time I get ready to release it, I find another feature that I want to add, or another bug to squash.

Looking at the latest commits, a lot of my changes are around logging, code cleanup, and stretch features that aren't required for a successful launch - such as:

  • Dark mode support
  • Animation for infrequently used features
  • Keyboard shortcuts
  • Support for functions up to 68
  • Themes

My next feature is going to be a video walkthrough, for the kind folks over at Apple, so that I can try and get this approved without sending them an entire layout. That would cost a lot to ship.

It also means that I've been procrastonating in every possible way, as I haven't used a video editing program in almost a decade. Hopefully it comes back to me easily enough.

In the meantime, here's something you don't see every day: A shortline using a steam engine for switching in 2021.

Until next time —
