A Note on Liquid Glass Adoption

By

A note on Apple's liquid glass theme.

If you were hoping for liquid glass to be available on iOS 26 and macOS Tahoe's release, let me rip the bandaid right off. I won't be adopting it until iOS 27. The reasons are 2-fold:

  1. The internet seems to dislike the design enough where I believe that Apple will make some major tweaks to it for iOS 27. Those tweaks will most likely have new design guidelines, and re-work for any existing liquid glass style. As I'm allergic to re-work for the sake of re-work, I'm going to sit out the initial release. The positive to this is I won't have to increase the mininmum requirements for the app, so any old devices will be supported for one more year.

  2. I have an iPhone 13 mini, and it's starting to show its age. I will not be upgrading it to iOS 26, because I don't want to tax the GPU any more than I need to. Since I won't get liquid glass, neither will you :p

All of this to say, never fear! I hope to have a liquid glass style app ready to go for iOS 27's release.
